Hilton Head South Carolina Beaches
- There are a remarkable variety of South Carolina Beaches, but in my opinion Hilton Head‘s beaches are the best!
You will find our favorite Hilton Head beach outside the Surf Watch, Mid-Island, near Chaplin Community Park and Burkes Beach access.
- Why is it our favorite? To begin with it’s not crowded and plenty wide enough for everyone not to mention the beautiful
setting of the sea oats lining the beach. The sand is firm enough to run or bike ride on and soft enough for building a sand castle.
- To tell you the truth, most of Hilton Head’s beaches look like this and are perfect to visit any time of the year.
Hilton Head South Carolina beaches are considered to be among the most beautiful in the world, another reason to take a Hilton Head vacation.
Hilton Head Golf Courses
When it comes to golfing, Hilton Head golf courses are exceptional! From the impeccable greens to the preserved nature around
them, these courses are top rated, you'll be humbled!
There are more than 23 world-class golf courses on Hilton Head Island and another 16 golf courses in the outlying area.
Some are known for their challenge and a signature hole, others for the sheer beauty.
Do you have a competitive streak? Or, do you enjoy an easygoing round in a beautiful setting of woodlands, water and sand? Hilton Head golf
courses are noted for the combination of all of the above.
The best part of a Hilton Head vacation is spending time on the greens. My husband is famous for saying he won't play too much golf, two rounds a day should be plenty!
Tennis
If tennis is your racket a Hilton Head vacation is perfect. Hilton Head South Carolina is one of the nation's top tennis
destinations. There are over 300 tennis courts on Hilton Head, all are for beginners, intermediate and advanced players.
In fact, some world class tennis academies are run by legends like Stan Smith, former Wimbledon champion.(You'll
find Stan at Sea Pines Resort.) The island has 19 tennis clubs, 7 are open to the public where you can take advantage of tennis
clinics and lessons while on your Hilton Head vacation.
Or if your casual like us and you want to play with your kids, you may want to check out Chaplin Community Park which is mid-island.
There's a very nice playground with several tennis courts and basketball courts. The park is located off 278 between Singleton Beach Road and Burkes
Beach Road. Very nice, check it out!
Whether your interest in tennis is casual or avid, you will find all levels of play on Hilton Head.
Hilton Head South Carolina Wildlife
After years of taking a Hilton Head vacation, we have come to appreciate its wildlife. Alligators, water birds, deer, bobcat, otter,
loggerhead turtles, and the precious bottled-nose dolphin are part of Hilton Head’s preserved wildlife.
The Town is dedicated in preserving not only its wildlife, but also the trees and native-vegetation, wetlands and beaches.
Because Hilton Head Island has done such a great job in preserving its natural beauty, you'll find peace and relaxation
even though it's a resort destination.
We find this especially nice because there are no high rise buildings and an abundance of vegetation.
Dolphins are ever-present in the waters of Hilton Head Island. Our youngest son gets especially excited when he spots the dolphin playing just off shore.
The best spots that we have found to watch the dolphin play are Hilton Head Plantation and Port Royal Plantation next to Port Royal Sound.
Palmetto Dunes, Forest Beach and pretty much any oceanfront location.
During the summer months the dolphin seems to feed on smaller fish very close to shore. Bike riding on the beach is very popular this time of year.
It might be my imagination, but I think the dolphin love to swim along with the riders. Check it out for yourself on your next Hilton Head vacation, its true!
